OK To Mix Regular & Synthetic Transmission Fluids?

A local retail store has some Synthetic ATF marked down to a couple bucks a quart.
Is it OK to mix Synthetic with regular automatic transmission fluids?
It would be used for top-offs and maybe a pan re-fill with a filter change.
I have a late 70's TH350 in my 72 C/10 and the 200R4 overdrive in my 84 Caprice.
