Rochester B on a 261 Problems

I just rebuilt the carb because the accelerator pump was bad. Now it starts right up, idles great, accelerates fine but it wont run steady at about 1800 to 2400 rpm. In that range it spits and sputters pretty bad. Any ideas. By the way. New plugs, electronic distributor, and timing set. I'm stumped. Thanks in advance for any help.
