Fuel vapor canister...

So today while checking the compression on the motor and generally playing with my toys I ended up snapping the plastic line that runs from the vapor canister back to the throttle body. Wasn't hard to do...that thing was brittle. I have searched for the part at all the usual online sources, but since I am not 100% sure what it would be called I am coming up empty. Is it really something that is critical for the engine?....in other words, am I going to do any damage without it?
On the plus side I did find out that the back plug wire was not even remotely seated on the distributor cap...big plus when everything is hooked up as it should be.
