centring the rear axle within the fender

can anyone give me a measurement, for the axle position in the frame..
i did mark the axle position on the frame before i ripped it all apart, but ive removed my marks while cleaning/de-rusting the frame, and now dont know where the axle should lie.. i believe it needed to be a couple of inches back from stock.. can anyone help
