Shaving my marker lights, can I just cut the wires?

I have a 71 fleetside that I have to replace a rusted out bed. I found a great new bed for it but it's from a 67. Since the 67 bed does not have side marker lights, I plan to shave the two front fender marker lights on my 71.

I need to know what my options are for the front and rear wiring for the marker light bulbs. Do I just leave the bulb in the socket and just tie it out of the way or can I remove the bulb or cut the bulb socket wires? Just don't want to mess up my lights.

So if someone has done this before please let me know what's the best thing for me to do with the wires.

Thanks
