New fuel pump questions.

I bought an Airtex mechanical fuel pump at Advanced Auto 2 years ago that I plan to replace my original unit with. *I figure I should replace it to eliminate all flash rusted fuel line parts.

The new pump's intake is at a much different angle than the original and won't line up easily if I make the new fuel line as the old one was. Should I get another unit or just work with how the new one is?

*Also, what is the best way to hold the gasket to the fuel pump when I am installing it?
