Over spray Question

I hope this is in the right forum, I figured more people would see it here...
Getting ready to clean-up my engine bay. At some point someone sprayed the inner fenders with black paint, but did not mask off the body. I tried some polishing compound, and it will take off the black over spray, but we are talking several hours work.
Any suggestions ??
