I respect your opinion. Why do you think a V6 version is less desire able than the V8 T5? The final gear on a V8 version is usually 0.63 and might bog the engine if Hp is low. I agree that a 350ci should be able to pull the 0.63 OD gear. It depends a lot on what rear diff gear he has. The V6 T5 has a great OD gear of 0.72. That gear really works well in these older trucks.
