Re: My engine oil leak fix thread. I hope.....
I had time to start installing the engine today. Till I had it hanging on the cheery picker and checked the flex plate. I had over looked the fact it would be different. Thankfully on of the local parts stores had one in stock. So the engine is resting in is new home, without to much trouble. Other than fighting a torn rear transmission mount. I haven't changed out the cross member yet. So a ratchet strap later things are held in place.
I checked my pictures I'm a little short on them. I'm sure I'll find the missing card. But here are a few. The gear box looking nice and clean. Note: don't buy a NAPA steering gear rebuild kit for a Saginaw box. The kit does not come with the top cover metal/O-ring gasket. I had to buy another kit from Rock Auto to get the one gasket to finish the job. NAPA kit price $41.00 Rock Auto $15.00. The rag joint repair I used the HELP parts line found at most aftermarket stores. There are two sizes and my truck used the large size. Less than $5.00. The slide joint I used some old Dodge truck stuff I had from years ago. It all fit. Paint I used was from Tractor Supply, Majic brand Enamel. And added catalyst hardner. The stuff is very easy to work with and looks and feels like powder coat. I had some time to waste so I polished my oil cooler lines. they will look great from underneath the truck.
