Hey everyone just thought I would share. I brought my 292 straight 6 head into work today to just put in the parts washer. Well, as a machinist with my own shop I couldn't resist. I first checked the head for squareness and found it was about .004 out. So, I decided to mill the head down until it cleaned up which was about .005 depth and then I couldn't resist and took it down another .025 for a total of .030. Should give me a small bump in compression and give me a nice flat surface for my previously leaking head gasket. For anyone interested this was done with a 12 flute face mill. Cat 40 taper. On a sharp bed mill with power feed. 390 rpm and about 7 inches per min feed. .005 finish pass. Ill find out how it works in a few weeks...
