Tie rod sleeves help needed.

Ok guys I have a 70 c10 with porterbuilt arms that are 1" narrower on a stock cross member with bags. Problem I'm having is the Aluminum tie rod sleeves I bought are not leaving enough room for adjustment on the tie rod ends. I'm only able to turn them a few times before they bottom out. The factory sleeves are 6" long as are the new ones from proforged. Do I need Shorter sleeve or should I cut down the tierods themselves? Any input is appreciated thank you.
