Interesting seeing all the North American cars in the UK. The Popular is pretty sweet. My buddy's summertime daily driver is a 1950 ford Prefect. He's owned in for at least 25 years. It runs pretty well for a very low-dollar car. With a carbureted 302 Ford, in street trim with slicks it'll turn 11.80's in the quarter-mile. Kinda scary actually! It's pretty creaky and flexible. But he loves it. I've attached a couple pics from an "Ontario Nostalgia Drag Racers" meet where you can see the Prefect in black primer. It was painted red for most of its life.
