New to the forum and new k20

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I just bought a 1967 k20 pickup truck. It has a dying 6 cyl engine. Cylinder compression are between 50 and 70 psi on all cylinders. I'm debating between overhauling the engine, or replacing it with a newer 8 cyl 350. If going the 8 cyl route, will the gearbox/transfer case will be easy to adapt?, or should I keep the I6 and do the overhaul?.

Thanks for the help.
