71' C-10 vent window loose

Guys,
I'm normally hangin' out in the 60'-66' section, but I have a question about my son's 71' C10. Is it possible to tighten the nut on the bottom of the vent window assy. without removing the entire vent window? The reason I ask is because his LH vent window will blow partially closed while driving at highway speeds because of not enough spring tension to keep the vent window open. I noticed that there's a hole in the door, underneath the door panel, that allows some access to the bottom of the vent, but there appears to be a lock of some kind on the nut that's on the stud.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks!
