Fuel Prob.....fuel just stops after 30+ minute drives!

A few times now the truck has just stopped, I'll pull over and look at the fuel filter pre-carb and there's nothing in it! The pump is still audibly running but no gas gets up to the carb. I'll sit there squeezing the rubber sections of line and hoping it's a clog or something I can knock loose but then, after several minutes...the pump will start getting gas up to the carb again and I'm off. It's happened multiple times in one trip if the trip is say 45+ minutes. It always starts back up and I get gas back at some point but crap, I could do without stalling out in traffic!!

This usually happens after 20-30+ minute drives and I'm wondering if the fuel pump is overheating? It's an external electric cheapy the prior owner put on but, it's only a year old.

Any thoughts?

I have a mechanical block pump to install but, haven't had time. Wonder if that would cure my ails??

Cheers y'all!

John
