what backspacing will fit

When a suspension lift is installed by either longer springs or spacers, how do you know what backspacing rims are needed?

Is the problem that the rims will hit the control arms, or something else?

The lift kit I'm looking at says you need 4" backspacing on 15x8 rims, but the american eagle 058 rims I'm looking at only come in 3 5/8 backspacing for 15x8.
