Removing Saginaw from 350

So I did my first engine removal the other night. Now, onto disassembly.

Heres my problem: Removed all the bolts to the bellhousing, tried to pull the trans (with bellhousing) and it came out a little, maybe a half an inch, but no more.

My question(s): is this normal? If so, how can I remove it further? My dad said he thinks its hanging up on the input shaft. Is there anything I need to further disassemble?

Any pictures would help greatly.

Info: SB350, Saginaw 3 speed.

Thanks.
