Dimmer Switch Rod

I have a simple question, is it possible to replace the high-beam dimmer switch rod on the steering column without dismantling the entire column? I had the column apart yesterday, and re-assembled plus installed it in my truck, before I realized the rod fell out..

Feeling really stupid, and really don't want to have to disassemble it again.

Thanks!
