Door windows slide back and out of track

Is there a spring or retainer that should keep the windows forward and into the track so that the dont slide back?
I dont have the inner door panels on yet because they didnt do it right before I took the panels off prior to paint but think that maybe the inner window felt on the panel may help keep them outboard and more prone into the track. Is that correct?
