62 c10 Drop block with bags question

I have a 62 c10 and am planning on putting air bags on the rear. I have read that it is good to use a 2 inch drop block and drop coils when doing a static drop (in order to have better suspension travel and shock length) and when seeking to go as low as you can with bags. I am not planning to raise and lower my truck with the bags but rather want to install them in order to have a softer ride. If I use bags and want to have a 5 inch drop I am going to have to use cups to keep the rear high enough. The question is. Do I install the 2 inch drop blocks and then add cups to raise it up again? Which seams counter productive. To clarify the truck has trailing arms.
