HEI on a 1968 250 I6... Weights?
So I am trying to chase some driveability issues I am having.
Purchased the truck a few months ago. Carb was leaking and I rebuilt it with new gaskets and a brass float. I may have been pretty passive driving it before the carb rebuild. After the rebuild I tried adjusting the timing too - basically checking everything is in order... So now I have no leak, but the truck seems to stumble a bit when you floor it. So far I have replaced; spark plugs plug wires distributor rotor fuel filters fuel pump air filter.... I am left with the distributor weights/module/coil, and the fuel supply in general. Can anyone confirm the weights on their HEI's? "452" is on the center section "106" is on the centrifugal weights Can I check the springs? or are they standard? Tomorrow I figure I am going to buy some fuel line and put a temporary fuel supply (jerry can) straight to the pump - by the battery and go for a drive. Comments? what weights should be there? What can I do to verify the weights and advance? I adjusted the carb fuel mixture using a vacuum gage. It seems to pull about 18ish inches of mercury. The vacuum actuator seems to work fine on the distributor (pulled vac with a pump). |
