Headliner Strips

I'm finally ready to reinstall my headliner and trim but I'm worried about breaking the chrome strips.

I'm thinking it might be safer to remove the bows and install the strips on them while out of the truck. Then reinstall working my way from the front to back (or vice versa).

Trying to snap them on from overhead seems like a way to break them.

Anyone successfully reinstalled the plastic chrome strips? Any hints?
