off idle stumble

I guess, but this is my third metal gasket. All have been fel pro. I just find it hard to believe it is this hard to get right when there were millions of inline 6's on the road at one time. I doubt they all either had leaky exhaust or a Clifford gasket.

It really sounds like most of the leaking is coming from the gasket between the intake and exhaust manifold or around the mounting studs, but it's hard to tell for sure. Should I have used something on the studs? (the ones that mount the intake manifold not the ones into the head).
