New truck... new questions....
Hey All !!!
haven't had an Ol chev since I was 20, so almost 20 years ago. short story is... I picked up what I thought was a partially restored 1970 shortbox k10 but... I'm under the impression that this body not being originally a 4x4 due to the non factory holes cut in the hump, just trying to figure exactly what year model my chassis is from... the run down of it is this leaf spring suspension (not sure if 1/2 or 3/4 ton) did all new front brakes (ordered for 1/2 ton) all fit no issues 6 lug wheels, 10 bolt 1/2 ton axles rear break parts were wrong (too narrow), had to get the 3/4 ton shoes now the other issue I'm looking at is the rear shocks the shock mounts on the frame are both forward of the rear axle the mounts on the axle did have opposing mounts one forward one behind, these have been cut off and new mounts were welded to the front side with coil over shocks what I can google is most trucks have the opposing shocks but a few do have them both forward of the axle, is it certain years? is one way better than the other? the shocks on it must be toast cause when I hit a bump it's like a trampoline nearly ejecting me lol.....anyhow i yet have more to learn any insight is appreciated. |
