1966 C10 Long Box to Short Box Conversion Help

We have disassembled our truck bed and would like to convert the bed sides from a long bed to a short bed.

I have been doing some reading and have seen it done a bunch of different ways.

From what I gather we take 12" front the forward section and 8" from the rear.

I saw a Delmo shop truck that looks like a straight cut saving the stake pockets.

I saw a this video from PowerblockTV where they notch the top rail to save the pockets.

I also saw a youtube video where the cuts were made at the extreme ends of the box to save the curvature along the length of the box side.

So, is there a best way and a corresponding best thread? We are mounting the truck body onto a '96 Caprice chassis, so I'm not too concerned about authenticity, factory mounts, etc, because it will all be custom mounted to a degree.

Thanks for your help.
