Coil Springs

Hey Guys...I just installed new coils on my 67 long fleet and seem to have a problem....They are the variable rate style but the front part off the top coils are touching when I put the truck down off jacks....No load or anything in bed...It seems like where they sit on the frame on top should be 90 degrees with the spring lower mounting hole...Am I missing some sort of tapered spacer to make the spring point straight down towards the trailing arm hole?? I can get replacement coils but I'm thinking they will be the same....Thanks,,,Dave
