Oil Leak Question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I had a 250 from a 75 Nova in the back of my truck and it was leaning frontward on the oil pan. Oil was leaking from the center hole of the crank. It was very easy to see the oil coming out of the hole.There is no bolt in there and looks like there never was. Oil pan and timing cover where dry. leaked about 1/8 quart of oil in about 4 days. So my question is where is the oil leaking from? Could it be the key for the balancer . If it was the front cover seal it would be running down the oil pan. Any thoughts? Thanks Gary
