whats the best winch??

So i am buying a 1993 suburban from my dad that has a winch operated snow plow on it. He originally put a cheap 2000# superwinch on it but it is worn out. I am trying to find a good winch that will last without killing my wallet. I want a big enough winch that it can be used year round and not just with the plow connected. so whats the best brands? what should i stay away from? I am looking at the viper winches on ebay but never heard of them before.
