My 67 Chevy Gets Frame Swapped AGAIN
Hey All
New to the forum.... Just wanted to share my frame swapping event... I will need advise from other and posting this may help some avoid the mistakes I have made. A little background on my c10 67 project ... The truck was purchased new by my grandfather, and I got it after he passed away. At that time the only other vehicle I had was a 04 Ford Lightning, so I decided to make the C10 into a K10...kinda I could not find a cheap k10 in the 67-72 body style, so I opted for a 85. I shortened the frame, rebuilt the diffs, added lift kit, ect... Now I decided that I wanted to get it back to stock, so I found a 67-72 c20 and plan to swap the 4x4 running gear over to this frame. I have measured the rear springs and it looks like they are wider on the 73-88 then a 67-72 also the pin that holds the spring pack together is not the same distance from the spring ends (what can be done about this?? grind the ends to fit the factory hangers and redrill the spring pack?) The hangers on the 73-87 are way longer, so I don't really want to swap them unless there is no other option. I also wonder if anyone makes a kit to add front leak springs to a 2wd frame? I plan to swap the cross members from the 73-87 frame Lastly it will be getting a 6.2 diesel swapped Last edited by olson_adam; 01-08-2016 at 01:25 AM. |
