Tire size question?

Hello Guys...
Yesterday, after a long search, yes they're hard to find overhere ;-(
I've found some Used 4 Slot Factory Original Steel 8 lug Rims that probably came of a GMC Truck 3500...

The back of the rim says 16x6.5K and they have 245/75/16 tires on them.

As far as I came was that the rim size is 16" and the width would be 6 or 6.5 inch.
My search on the web found some charts saying that the max tire for a 6.5 rim would be 215

size Min Ideal Max
6,0 175 185 or 195 205
6,5 185 195 or 205 215

So 245 shouldnt fot or be good for my rims I think? (strange as they are on it and seem to fit well?

My question... I would like to fit smaller tires to have some more clearance...
would any one know what minimum size I could place???

Cheers Skip'
