350 engine oil capacity

I think the dipstick is incorrect on my 350 engine. Changing oil and filter I noticed it only takes 4 quarts to be at full mark on dipstick.
To correct need the following clarified.
Owners manual and GM service manual both indicate 6 quarts needed when filter included. I also noticed that several members say only 5 quarts needed when filter included. Which is correct?
Your thoughts appreciated and thanks for your time.
