Turbo 350 to 700r4

I'm sure it has been ask on here a few thousand times, but I want to change the Turbo 350 in my 70 Suburban to a 700r4. A friend of mine says that I simple need to move the engine forward and use a different mounting location and I can move the trans mount, and it will save me from having to cut the driveshaft... Has anyone done or heard of that?

Thanks in advance for any help.
