1964 GMC 1000 with a 292ci
I just wanted to share my current build with the community and say thank you to all of those who have helped with their advice directly or indirectly through their threads. I recently picked up this 1964 GMC 1000 with an inline 6 as a daily driver/first truck for my 15 year old son. We are in the process of updating to truck with some mods to make the driving easier and safer on a daily basis. The front has gotten disc brakes and a sway bar from ECP with a hydroboost system to come. The steering has being upgraded to a Unisteer rack and pinion system with new bushing and KYB shocks all around from the guys at Summit. We will be tackling the gearing in the differential soon to make freeway speeds less stressful on the engine. The interior is getting an upgrade in the seatbelt department and the bench seat will be upholstered in a field tan waxed cotton fabric. Due to the truck being used to haul stuff, we are considering using Rumber, an extruded recycled tire board product, for the bed.
Here are a few pictures of the build so far: The first night when we picked up the truck. https://www.instagram.com/p/BAYqMUbMjNy/ The following day. http://www.instagram.com/p/BAnL0JSsjKA/ Brakes and shocks. http://www.instagram.com/p/BB27AC4MjI_/ Brakes and undercarriage. http://www.instagram.com/p/BB27ZBdsjJy/ Rack and pinion. http://www.instagram.com/p/BB271sYsjKk/ |
