Same engine converted to RPM intake, eddy 600cfm carb, ramhorn 2" manifolds and MSD Hei distributor with a 200-4R and 3.07 rear gears in my 79 never got better then 15mpg and that truck is at least 1000lbs lighter then my 98. Over the years I've learned some trucks just got the magic combo of tolerances from the factory to get great mileage and I finally found one.
