My 68 vice.
new member but not new to the forum. I have used this forum quite a bit for information, inspiration, and O F#@$ how do I fix this. Always was raised by Chevy family. I am a lemon in a sense that I won’t buy a dodge or a ford. Dad had a 71 cuda as his first car then went to a road runner, chevelle, 88 iroc z28, and built a couple 350's. Uncle has a 71 chevelle Malibu with a 383, he is the original owner and I’m his only nephew so he's already told me I am receiving that beast. Grandpa has had multiple Chevy’s as work trucks never anything fuel injected. Including his dually RV mover. So it was inevitable that I would eventually own my own. I settled on a 1968 Chevy c30 with a 327 and a sm420, granny 1st and 4.11 rear w/ 19.5 inch rims. Essentially a farm truck. I bought it from the widow of the original owner for $1400. At the time of purchase the car had a surging, no power, whining issue, and wouldn’t drive over 35. It was over an hour away from my house. Wife wasn’t pleased with my purchase since it was butt ugly Chevy orange, with a flat bed. Used as a hay hauler. Went and started her up after a lot of starting fluid, checked timing and it wasn’t registering on my gun. Wires were crossed and her grandson put a new distributor in it. Wasn’t dropped in correctly and had a stuck float. Few whacks and 20mins of dropping the dist. In right n I drove her home.
