So can you buy brand new perfect 66 Impala reproductions and then switch the labels to get "show quality" correct belts & buckles? Hunting extra nice belts is not something I want to do really - I have a bunch of used original I have to go through and see if I have enough buckles w/ GMC logos still on them to make a full set for my 66 Suburban. My understanding is that these Black GMC belts are 1966 only so for 60-65 GMC's you would use the fawn Chevy belts which were available at GMC dealers as an accessory option in those years - correct?

I haven't seen any reproduction 66 Impala belts Steve. I also found that only the buckle and the webbing is the same . The floor mounting end is different from truck. These are 1966 GMC only belts , yes. I haven't removed any labels, yet, My concern would be wrecking the label or removing the detail chrome/paint from the backside when removing it.

For Chevy trucks, only 1966 used the fawn belt. 1965 and earlier used the same exact belt except it was black on the buckle and the webbing. Not 100% on GMC as finding "correct" belts in pre 66 GMCs is tough. The 1965 GMC Accessory book shows the GMC belt as being black webbing with what looks like a chrome buckle and ends. Haven't seen a real 60-65 GMC NOS Accessory belt yet though.
