383 Stroker

I've been doing a lot of searching to ultimately replace my engine. Why? Mainly to replace leaky heads, but also to gain power (torque), preferably low end since I don't spend much time above 4000rpm. Cost is always an issue as is downtime. I think going to an LS conversion is just too much, even a high mileage version. So far, my best find is crate version here: http://www.westcoastengines.com/#!bu...for-sale/c10i4 but their listed brands don't get good reviews. Plus, it seems silly to go across the country for this item. I like the 420 torque, 375hp & 87 octane specs, plus, I should be able to reuse my intake and carb. I found, but haven't contacted, a local builder to see if they can complete.

In large, I'd like to hear any opinions y'all might have on any aspect of the subject: 383, builders, legit specs, cost, gotchas...yada. Anybody have one in their burb?
