Backspacing on an 18" wheel

Hi guys,

I am sure this has been discussed many times and I did do a lot of searching on the board, but couldnt really find a clear answer.

I am looking into a getting a new set of wheels. i want to run an 18" wheel.

I have a 2.5 spindle, 2 inch spring drop in the front and shackle drop in the rear ( I will probably have to remove a spring or two to get the stance right).

I dont have the body on the frame right now, so I cannot take measurements.

But I would like to have the tires tucked up close as possible to the fenders without rubbing.

Can you guys give me some recommendations on wheel sizes and back spacing please.

I live in Austria so I cant order wheels, mount them to see how the fit, and then return them if its not right. I kind of need to get it right the first time as shipping and tax kills me.

I have read some specs, such as a 18"x10" 5" backspacing for the rear.
and 18"x9.5" 5.25" backspacing for the front. Does any of that sound right?

I should add, I am looking to get the Vintage Wheels 427 wheel. They offer a 18x9.5" and 18"x11"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Paul
