POR-15 on newly media blasted metal

I apologize in advance, as I know there are many threads on the POR--15 subject - but I could find this question answered on them.

For newly blasted metal work - can I apply PO-15 directly without degreasing and using there etching wash? The metal is clean, and I would assume the same as etched (if not better) than with the chemical. There are no traces of rust whatsoever. I just don't want to purchase chemicals that aren't needed.
