Best trans x-member to clear tucked exhaust ?

I'm planning on tucking my exhaust, and I'm wondering if anyone has used the Western Chassis transmission cross-member ? (I like how this one gusset's the top and bottom rail flanges, similar effect to the factory one).

And if you've run your pipes straight back through the trailing arm cross-member how much room is there from the top of this x-member and the bottom of (2-1/2") pipe ?

I ask because if I have to dent my pipes, or worse listen to them "clank clank" everytime I hit a bump ? Then I guess I'll be building my own x-member up high over top of them instead (similar but higher than the good looking custom one in the other pic, but with c-channel type frame ends), and if so, I wanna be doing that before I blast and paint my frame (soon).
