Shoulder belts in our trucks

There are a lot of threads about using the existing B pillar bolts and adding a shoulder belt (71 C10 for me). I was looking to do the belt that connects to the seat belts so you can use it either way. My muscle car in the day had that setup. Someone's reply hit home though about the fact that it's just like a seat belt and has no retraction to keep you or your loved ones from hitting the dash or breaking a bone. Also the fact that the seat belts are, in my case, 45 years old. So I'm back to the idea of aftermarket setups. BUT, I just sold a 71 Suburban that had them and they sucked in that when putting them on if you don't pull GENTLY and steadily, the belt comes to a screeching halt. Also, the retractors needed help getting the belts back in. So my question is: Is there a difference in quality between suppliers and if so which ones are best? You can't put a price on safety. Thanks.
