Shut off valve for heater core?

I know I've seen a thread,or a post in a thread on a different subject on putting a shut off valve in the intake heater core hose. My truck has heat coming out of the vents even with the selector on the non-heat setting.I'm looking for info, pics, etc... on installing the valve,ie; size, style, metal/brass/plastic,fittings. If you have a link or info.on a thread with this info, please post it on here.
