fuel filler

I relocated my fuel tank to the rear of the truck, a 1967 c10 2 wheel drive. I don't want to cut a hole in the perfect sheet metal on the side of the bed, I also use the bed to haul stuff and some times have a camper top so I don"t want a bed fill. I wanted to make a copper fill pipe going from the stock fill location.I know I will be punching new holes in the back of the cab, but they wont be seen. Do I need to worry about gas fume build up in such a long tube run.
Thanks for any input.
