58 Project

Just getting going on my 58 project. Came to me 23 years ago and has been garaged ever since. '69 Chevy 307, 4 on the floor, lot's of rust. In the tear down phase now.

Just bought a 56 chassis to swap since it's in much better shape and was a great deal. I've found the front cross member to be different than the 58. All images I could find, even for 58/59 match this. Anyone have ideas how mine is so different and still factory riveted?

The 56:
