Newbie with '66 C20
I'm brand new to this site but have been into cars (and trucks) my whole life. Corvettes are my first love but I'm thrashing on a '66 3/4 ton which I bought in 1982 - for $50.00! I drove it as a work truck on my moonlighting jobs, then parked it in 1990. I finally have the time to bring it back to life so I'm going to be asking a bunch of questions for the experts here.
The truck has the original 283 and has either 247,000 or 347,000 miles on it - I'm unable to document exactly. 3-speed, originally on the tree but had been converted to a floor shift. The frame is solid as can be - they used some sort of undercoating which held up very well and in places I'm having to scrape it off yet, and am finding the metal under it is like the day it left the factory. Trailing arms are a different story, completely shot, and the cab floor is a Fred Flintstone Special. I just got an order from LMC yesterday and will begin the task of assembling everything as soon as I get some experience with a MIG. Plans are to keep the utility body, and restore the truck pretty much original. It will be a cruiser and fun truck, NOT a 100% factory original showpiece - the object for me is to have fun, not be a slave to complete perfection. (I have no beef with those who are into that, it's just not where I'm going with this one) My first question is - can I upload pics from my computer, or do you have to use a site like Photobucket? I only have a couple pics on PB but lots more on the 'puter. Here's one of them: |
