Right transmission 1949 AD 3100

I am a new guy. Have been reading your threads for some time.Have got a lot of very good information. Looking for advice. I bought a 1949 3100 in too bad of shape to restore, so I am making a fun work truck. I am putting a 250 in it I already have a posi rear end from a 1975 TA with 273 gears . I was going with a 5 speed from an S10. Would this be a good combination or should I use a different transmission? I want to stay with a manual transmission.
