Door panel install

So I got a new interior for my 68 K20 from Grumpy Old Man. All I have installed so far are the visor and door panels. I need to have my seat frame sand blasted before I install the cover, and tearing apart the dash to install the new pad is going to be a pain so Im trying to have other stuff ready to do under there before I get to it.

My door panels are backerboard with vinyl covering. Im wondering if anyone has ever used a long wide strip of Velcro to attach the bottom of the door panel vs using the factory screws. I think it would look a bit better without the screws, just not sure if Velcro is strong enough to keep something like a door panel on.
