Floor mats and heat shield, vent

I don't know about you guys but my floorboards get really hot. I have line X'd my truck up to the firewall and just have cheap floor mats. I was thinking about getting some bigger mats like the ones that Lloyd mats makes in the rubbertite material and then putting some heat resistant material on the backs of them and somehow waterproofing them. Anyone done this? Or have a set of Lloyd mats?

My truck originally had AC so the pass side doesn't have the vent by the feet. I think you can convert that to a vent like on the drivers side. Anyone ever done that?

Thanks
