78 k20 camper special 8,400 gvw 77k original miles.
New member here, found this forum while working on my NP203 transfer case on my project truck and really liked it so I thought I'd setup a profile and a project thread.
I will add pics of my truck later today. So I've had it since February and just now got it back on the road. I bought it for $400 with brand new 16.5 tires on it. I was amazed how clean it was when I got it and the previous owners had managed to keep all of the original parts, even the original hubcaps The previous owner told me they just sunk $3000 into rebuilding the transmission (turbo 400) and transfer case (original fulltime NP203) it also had a brand new exaust system. So far I've had to replace the flex plate and starter, headgaskets, carburater, exaust manifolds, water pump, all the fuel lines, hoses, belts, front knuckle joints, installed mile marker 502 conversion kit, made custom twin stick shifter, front brakes, flushed brake fluid, installed twin eletric fans, installed 10,000 gvw trans cooler, put in trans temp gauge, fixed misc. Wiring problems, replaced chrome valve covers for stock valve covers. I've got pictures of most all of this and will post them up soon. Next big projects will be rust repair, and beefing up my NP203 with a 73-74 one piece tail shaft housing and the actual replacement shaft if I can find one. |
