Putting door handle on door correctly (1970 Chevy)

Right now my door handle is placed incorrectly. Basically, if the door handle is at a certain position the door keeps shut when I close the door, but when the door handle is at another position and I close the door it does not keep shut and will even open when I am driving.

I took the door panel off and trying to figure out how to put the door handle correctly. Appreciate your advice if there is some steps I need to follow when putting the door handle.
